What Is PT-141?

In the beginning, PT-141 was actually being researched as a potential for sunless tanning. In actuality, two other peptides were formed prior to the PT 141 peptide for that exact purpose, those two being Melanotan I and II. While Melanotan II went on to be the tanning agent that was being sought after, it also had a different ability. It was able to aid in sexual dysfunction and thus Bremelanotide was created.

Side Effects Of PT 141

When taking PT 141 peptide, some side effects do exist. The most common side effect of taking PT 141 peptide is nausea. If you experience nausea you can take an anti-nausea medication prior to administering the peptide as a way to prevent or alleviate it. Some of the other lesser common side effects include flushing, headache, vomiting, fatigue, hot flashes, dizziness, or coughing.

Another side effect that may occur with the use of Bremelanotide is the occurrence of hyperpigmentation. This is the darkening of the skin primarily seen in the gums, face, and breasts.

Those that experience high blood pressure or cardiovascular disease may not want to use PT-141 as it has affected blood pressure in some of its users. If you take Naltrexone, ReVia, Vivitrol, or Indomethacin, do not take the PT-141 peptide as some reactions have occurred. It has been proven to lower the oral absorption of some other medications as well.

PT 141 Dosage Information

When using PT 141, it is important to note that you’ll only need eight doses per month. You’ll also want to avoid dosing within twenty-four hours of each dose. That being said, the most common dose of effectiveness is 1.75mg. Therefore, if you reconstitute your 10mg vial with 1mL of bacteriostatic water, you’ll want to pull up to the ninth tick mark on your insulin syringe. This will effectively give you the correct PT 141 dosage.

Once injected, the body will metabolize the peptide through a process known as hydrolysis. During this process, the bonds of the peptides are broken down with the help of water. One important thing to mention is that you do not want to inject PT-141 like a flu shot. In fact, you want to inject it subcutaneously into the thigh or abdomen. This is done by pinching the skin and injecting it into the fatty tissue.
